A New Day… A New Job… A New Hell

So yeah, I’m not longer under the “Unemployed” bracket, my life took a sudden turn and I was offered a temp position doing data entry for a company called Ventura, an outsourcing company based in Rotherham.

The offer itself is through an agency, who I’ve briefly used once before, it was short notice too but that’s fine because I’m in need of £1200 of becoming broke, short of being a gay porn star I’ll do anything for money at the moment. Start time was supposed to be 7.30am which I wasn’t looking forward to due to me going to sleep at least 4.30am every morning, tried to get an early night, didn’t get much sleep but I managed to get some and woke up at 6am this morning, set off for work at half past due to it being a 40 minute drive and didn’t want to chance getting stuck in traffic.

To my luck there was no traffic and due to me bombing it to work I made it in 35 minutes, so I had 25 minutes to wait. No problem, the other five people I was starting with showed up, at half 7 we were still stood outside the building, phoned the lady from the agency, apparantly reception doesn’t open until 8am, bit strange no one came to fetch us considering we were meant to start at half 7.

When reception opened at 8 we walked in and told the receptionist why we were here, she was trying to get ahold of the woman that booked us to be there originally but she wasn’t answering her phone.

Eventually after 20 minutes of fucking around we eventually got to where we were meant to go, the reason we weren’t collected is because the woman that booked us hadn’t told anyone at the office we were to be expected. I said as long as we were still being paid from half 7 I don’t really care about being left outside for 30 minutes. Now the job was data entry but because they hadn’t set up our passwords or anything yet, we had to spend a majority of the day opening returned mail and taking out the letter included with the magazine, extremely repetitive but I don’t really mind, after the sort of work I’ve been involved in over the past couple of years it was a nice change, we started that at 8.40am and then went on break at 9am =/

Eventually I started doing data entry at 2pm then finished worked at 3pm. So all in all an extremely easy yet still stressful first day. Too early to tell if this job is going to become mind numbingly boring, repetitive tasks don’t bother me but no one speaks in that office, and that’s whats probably going to get to me the most. Spending the entire day in my own mind, torture hah.

But while I moan about my own life, I know there are people out there having a much harder time, recently learned today that fellow blogger Corkscrewboohoo lost her boy over the weekend, I don’t really know her as I’ve only been on WordPress for a week, but we’re still all apart of the WordPress family and I can’t imagine what she’s going through at the moment, I wouldn’t even know how I’d cope with such a tragedy but just want to say I will be thinking of you and I hope you stay strong.

  1. Hey, glad to hear about the new position! It’s money!! Yay!! Hopefully you can survive the corporate whiplash that starting a new job causes 🙂 and I bet you can.
Very sorry to hear of the tragedy Corkscrewboohoo is going threw 😦
When i hear something like this it makes me realize how we should all stop and count out blessings before they’re gone. So sad.
