So I heard on the news this morning while driving to work that the man that founded Apple had died at the age of 56, Steve Jobs unlike most people in the news today was an extremely remarkable man and the world has gotten that little bit worse now that he has died.

A lot of people think that he’s just the man that was in charge of Apple but you couldn’t be further from the truth, he was the founder of Apple computers way back in the early 1970s and by the time he was my age, 26, he was a multi-millionaire. But due to the way he conducted himself at work he was relieved of his duties and fired from the company he created in his parents garage at just the age of 30.

Did he wallow at losing his own company? Did he go into despair? No he did not he got straight back on the horse and started up NeXT Computer later on in the same year he was fired from Apple. Not only that but he bought the computer graphics division of LucasArts the next year, that company soon became known as Pixar who has made some of the greatest computer generated movies ever. While he was away from Apple, they started rapidly losing money and it was only when they bought out NeXT from Steve Jobs when things were going to change.

Jobs became in control of Apple again with his second company being purchased by the first and it took him almost a decade to make that company profitable again. Apple was on the verge of bankruptcy before Steve came back and the fact that he took it straight back up to the top says a lot about that man. Yeah he may have weird ways of managing his company, people complained that he demanded perfection, but why shouldn’t he? Why should he have to produce shoddy technology when he knows it’s well in his ability to produce the best that can possibly be produced?

And over the last ten years the world has seen iTunes, iPods, iPads, iPhones all come out and I would guarantee that most of the population that can afford technology has at least one Apple product or is using an Apple application. For me, I don’t really care for iPhones at all, in fact, I think they’re pretty overrated for what they are, the new iPhone 4S I think it’s called only does something a HTC can do for twice the price and I hate Apple Macs. But on the flipside I love iPods and iTunes, the iTunes store has actually reduced the amount of songs I pirate off the internet as it’s just easier and safer to buy it from the store. iPods are the most user friendly MP3 players around and iTunes is the most user friendly MP3 Software in the world.

If it were not for people like Bill Gates and Steve Jobs I’d hate to think where the technological world would be, say what you want about either of them but you use at least one of their products.

And you know what kind of man Steve Jobs is because he had to resign as CEO of Apple in August of this year, only to finally succumb to pancreatic cancer two months later. That man worked for his company right until the very end, he resigned because he physically wasn’t fit to do so, he has achieved so much and it’s scary to think what else he could have accomplished if he didn’t have cancer.

So if you thought he was just the man from Apple, then think again. He has had such an impact on technological improvement of our civilization and whether you’re watching a film made by the company he made profitable or using one of the devices his company has created, think of him for a moment and give thanks for what he has given the world.

The former board of director of the Walt Disney corporation will be sorely missed and out of all the recent news and deaths, this is probably one of the saddest.

Rest in Peace Steve.

  1. I was eating some apples (fruit off-course) in the morning when I saw ‘RIP Steve Jobs’ trending on twitter. I felt very sad. And as usual posted a tweet mentioning ‘RIP Steve Jobs’ thinking that I would get more followers. 😦 After a few minutes of it, my friend messaged me that Steve Jobs was killed by Apple [the Company]. I was annoyed…felt embarrassing…and ate all the five apples.
Now truth is all what I know.

I want to dig into sky.

    –Steve Jobs.
RIP Steve! You were more than just a common man.

  2. Steve was great! One of those amazing men who’s managed to achieve the impossible. He was definitely the living icon among us and a great inspiration to many.
    RIP Steve
