In 2001 there was a new game that was released, its name was RuneScape, I was one of the first people to sign up in January 2001 and enjoyed the game thoroughly, I played this game for many years right up until RuneScape 2 was released in 2004, it’s basically your only best free MMORPG on the internet, I can’t believe how many hours I put into this game, but with me being in college the first couple of years it was released I had plenty of free time.
Over the years more and more stuff had been added to it, more skills, more quests, more everything, I reached all I could when I completed all the tasks on the free membership, so I then forked out the money to upgrade and get more quests, I know, sad as it seems it was only £3.50 so it wasn’t that bad really.
But over time due to many factors, such as the poor quality of computer that I had, the poor internet speed, getting a job, generally getting bored of it I stopped playing and I haven’t played it for a very long time.
Every now and then I’d log into my account just to see what was going on, but that’d only last a few moments then I’d be gone again, I’d say I haven’t played properly for about six years.
Then Anna mentioned it on the forums yesterday, this made me check it out again, I walked around, I killed some goblins, I ate some fish, then my interest got stronger and stronger throughout last night/this morning, I got home from a pointless dentist appointment and suddenly found myself paying for the membership fee once again, that was 8 hours ago and since then I’ve pretty much lost my entire day to RuneScape!
How could you do this to me Anna! Now I’m obsessed with RuneScape once again! So much has changed since I last played it, there are now clans, I’ve joined one but I’m open to leaving it should the opportunity arise.
I joined one clan, two of the clan people were having cyber sex via the clan chat! Really?! Is this what youth of today have to resort to when they want to get their jollies?
It’s funny how people call me a n00b (newbie to the game) when I was playing when they were just learning how to write! But I suppose the same is present in all games.
I find myself doing nothing when I finish work apart from blogging and watchin TV so why not try and get back into the game? Why not try and learn all of the new things? I shall give it a month, see if I am still addicted to it by the time December rolls around, if not then I should probably just get rid of my account and accept the fact that I have no interest in the game. But for now we shall see how it goes.
If anyone wants to add me as a friend in the game my character name is, wait for it… Ard Pete 🙂 feel free to add, we can chat while I try to increase my skill points.
Good job I now have a girlfriend otherwise I’d definitely be dying alone!
