Music Monday – Jason Mraz

mrazBack to business as usual as by the way today at work has gone, the holidays are well and truly over. Everyone’s back to work and everyone seemed to had forgotten their passwords for their computer because being off work for more than two days obviously wiped any memory they previously had.

It occurs to me that I’ll eventually run out of good artists to feature and then I’ll struggle to post but luckily that day isn’t upon me as I bring you the ever so graceful Jason Mraz.

I literally only found out today that he’d brought out a new album, having been a massive fan of his previous one it seems only fitting that I feature him this week. As you know, I am broke. While I’m sure I’ll be a millionaire at some point in the future for now I have to ride out the waves of being poor and that includes no more going to the pub at lunch; I’ve taken to just sitting in my car and reading and having a listen to the radio.

Naturally there’s a lot of shit on the radio but I heard a song that caught my attention, I’d heard it before but never knew who it was by; turns out it’s Mraz’s first single off of his recent album hence today’s post.

His most well known song is probably the one above, “I’m Yours” which is probably one of my favourite songs; I find it calming, not in a “My first interview” kind of way but in a “This’ll stop me from punching you in the larynx” kind of way.

Whenever I hear this song now though I’m always reminded of when I went to China to visit a friend a few years back, he convinced me to go to this Chinese massage parlour and unfortunately it wasn’t the kind with the happy ending. The only reason I went is because he was gonna by me a “rub n tug” boy was I fooled.

My friends Chinese girlfriend who had a surprisingly good taste in music had this playing while one of the Chinese torture specialists had me bent back over her knees resulting in me having bruises all the way down my spine.

Does This Look Relaxing To You?
Does This Look Relaxing To You?

Yeah I’m glad one of us was having a good time, you bitch.

I’m not quite sure what album this song is off; I haven’t actually seen it on any, I’ve only ever heard this live version he did in Korea proving that his music is popular in many a country. I think it shows that he’s just as talented live as he is in a studio which is the show of a great musician.

Next as previously mentioned the song I heard on the radio that I didn’t even know was Mraz’s song titled “I won’t give up” will no doubt become one of my favourites, now sporting long hair and a goatee he seems to have done away with the cool hats, I’m not sure if that’s a shame or not. I wish I had the head that’d suit a hat. I don’t even suit beanies, I look like a rapist. Mind you with this beard I’m sporting, I look like one anyway.

Definitely listen to his two most recent albums as I feel they’re his best. I’ll leave you with a song also from his newest album named “The Woman I Love” which has some country tones in there, if a lesbian like Ellen likes him you can’t go wrong.

Next week; something different!

  1. Once again, you’ve chosen well. All good songs. He’s very talented without all the fuss. What you see is what you get.
Hey, that massage looks kind of freaky and by “freaky” I mean, unpleasant. . Rub and tug! LOL!!! Pete, you’re so funny!

    1. My mate sure knew how to lure into a world of pain, The back thing wasn’t the only painful thing, she rubbed the blisters on my feet after she had put them in a bowl of boiling hot water; nearly pulled my knees out of their sockets, rodded me in the kidneys with her index fingers, cracked my neck and nearly tore my collar bones out of my body. I basically spent £20 to get the shit kicked out of me for half an hour :\

  2. She does look rather happy, doesn’t she?

I’ve not heard of this musician before now, so, thanks for the introduction, Pete! I’ll add him to my playlist.

    Rub and tug! Tsk!! *giggle*

  3. I return! I do feel like I have been away since last year… which is technically true, and is a terrible joke. There’s so much stuff to catch up on in Pete-land that a single lunch break just won’t quite be enough, so I will have to enjoy all your posts when I get home later. But FUCK ME THAT LOOKS PAINFUL! Also your new header image is fucking awesome. Also I am glad that you are still alive.

  4. Haha omg that massage parlor looks so shady. Hahah! Jason Mraz is cool. He makes cool sound effects sometimes. I remember listening to him a lot when I was 16. Good stuff!
